About Me

My Photo
A 58 yr. old single transwoman who loves quiet walks and 'pushing the envelope' in transadvocacy. A great sense of humor, loving to laugh, but dead serious when involved in human rights efforts.

WELCOME

Welcome to the blog that is intended for education, information, entertainment, news and advancement...and it's all about the Transgender community! If you're a transgender individual, I hope it provides you with all of the above as well as empowerment; if you're not a transgender, hopefully this blog will help in giving you a better understanding of the transgender community and that community's issues, achievements/abilities, "temperaments" and diversity. Overall, I hope your visit proves to be an interesting one.

Remember: "Communication is the Doorway through which Understanding may Walk."

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!! Here's Your Chance to Make YOUR Voices Heard!

by Cheryl Courtney-Evans
posted July 11, 2012

"abitchforjustice": Too often the voices of the GNC (aka TBGL) community are silent as city, state and federal legislative actions are taken that affect everybody. These actions, though they affect our lives too, have not had any input from us. Additionally, as we have had no say in them, it also stands true that this non-participation results in too few of our numbers knowing about the benefits (when there are benefits) of these actions for them to have any real impact or be a benefit to us.

The following announcement that I received today is regarding the recently Supreme Court-validated Affordable Health Care Act [ACA] (aka Obamacare; the Rethuglifools coined that name as a diss, but President Obama 'owns' it because, he says, "Obama does care"). I feel that it is imperative that I share it with you readers (and you share it with your friends, acquaintences, relatives and allies), that you may take part in its implementation going forward. This announcement represents an opportunity for you to learn all about the ACA, but also notice the word "forums"; this word indicates that besides listening to the facilitators and learning about the law and its implementation, attendees will get the chance to voice their concerns...this means YOU!

So "abitchforjustice" is urging you all to take the following steps:
1. PLEASE read this announcement and find out when/where it will be in your area.
2. Space is going to be limited, so use the link available and RSVP....ASAP!
3. MARK YOUR CALENDAR so you won't miss it!

Please join officials from the US Department of Health and Human Services at one of the upcoming Affordable Care Act implementation forums across the country.  These sessions are intended to provide an opportunity for states and stakeholders to learn more about the next steps in implementation of the health care law and ask questions about work needed to build Affordable Insurance Exchanges in every state. HHS leadership will provide an overview of topics related to coverage provisions of the Affordable Care Act effective in 2014.
We anticipate a wide variety of stakeholders and state officials will want to attend these forums.  The forums will be particularly useful to stakeholders who seek information regarding next steps in the creation of a more competitive private health insurance marketplace through the establishment of Affordable Insurance Exchanges.
In order to make it easy for interested participants to attend, we have scheduled four regional sessions in Washington, DC, Chicago, Denver, and Atlanta.  Each session will run from 9:00am-4:30pm and is open to people throughout the country.
